To be successful in this role you must bring:

·       High School diploma or GED or equivalent required and five years’ experience performing the characteristic duties described at the Water Scada Technician level or combination of relevant education and experience.

·       At least three years’ experience in electronic sensory and control systems as utilized in water utilities, with the equipment described above.

·       Fundamental knowledge of SCADA systems, systems integration and networking, PLC programming (SCADApack, ABM), program language, and debugging tools; possess the knowledge and skills to operate/maintain and troubleshoot these systems.

·       The Water SCADA Technician is capable of application design, aware of technology development and capable of providing and presenting ideas for operational improvements.

 Certificates and Licenses required:

·       Valid California noncommercial Class C Driver License.

·       Have and maintain California DWR (Department of Water Resources) certificate D3 Water Distribution Operator certificate.

·      Ability to obtain and maintain within 12 months the AWWA (American Water Works Association) Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certificate.

·      California DWR (Department of Water Resources) Certificate T2 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate preferred.

·      Ability to obtain and maintain within 24 months the AWWA (American Water Works Association) Cross- Connection Certificate.

·       CWEA Controls Systems Technician II level or equivalent certification.

Physical Requirements:

·      Ability to maintain a California Noncommercial Class C Driver License.

·      Must be physically able to move manhole covers, operate valves and access trenches and manholes.

·      Must be able to wear a respirator and pass annual function medical and auditory testing, fitness testing and training.

·       Constantly utilizing light/ fine grasping.

·       Frequently stand/walk, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21- 40 pounds.

·       Occasionally perform seated work, kneel/crawl/twist/bend/stoop/ squat/reach work above shoulders.

·       Perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and sort file paperwork or parts.

·       Rarely climb, lift/carry/pull objects up to 40 pounds.

 Working Conditions:

·       Able to work any day of the week and at all hours to cover emergencies. Able to work overtime, evenings, and weekends, including holidays, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.

·       Able to receive phone calls and respond when able on rotating basis referred to as beeper duty.

·       Required to wear appropriate issued uniform.

·       Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

·       May be exposed to noise greater than 80db TWA , biohazards, asbestos, and heavy metals.

·       May work in confined spaces or at heights from 4- 10. Feet.

Compensation:

The expected pay range for this position is $52.13 (Step 1) - $63.12 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the pay range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
