Join Stanford University's IT Hosting Services team as a Hosting Services Operations Engineer, where you will support the critical compute and storage infrastructure vital to Stanford's academic and administrative functions. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with our experienced engineers, building your skills in managing and maintaining secure, efficient systems that support our dynamic campus and healthcare environments.
This is a hybrid-eligible position.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Security and Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of data security standards and regulatory frameworks, such as HIPAA.
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of operating systems, ideally with some experience in system configuration or administration. Experience managing compute and storage infrastructure in a mission-critical private cloud environment;
- Working knowledge of traditional and blade-based computing hardware, storage management, storage networking, data center networking, power systems including DC.
- Vendor Platforms: VMware and other hypervisors/container management, Cisco UCS & FI, Pure Storage, Cisco and Juniper networking
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) or willingness to learn.
- Exposure to virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and basic troubleshooting skills.
- General knowledge of data security practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently when appropriate.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and users.
The expected pay range for this position is $122,024 - $147,076 per annum.
