Key Selection Criteria
The ideal candidate will have a background and passion for innovative technology and possess strong leadership qualities. The candidate should have the following experience and skills:
- 10-15 years of demonstrated experience in research computing technology support, preferably in a university context.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in research computing technologies; well-connected within the global high performance computing ecosystem is a plus.
- Proven ability to develop and execute short and long-term plans for computing initiatives and services consistent with the university’s overall goals. Strong understanding of the latest technologies and trends in research computing. Ability to synthesize needs and work with vendors or build advanced capabilities.
- Strong team leadership. Skills for attracting, developing, protecting and retaining talented research computing staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with IT professionals, other leadership, students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Well-developed fiscal management skills. Solid understanding of budget development and implementation, financial planning, and management to ensure projects and service are within budget.
- Proven ability to manage change within the organization to include implementing new processes, procedures, and technologies.
- Well-developed risk management skills. Proven ability to identify and manage risks related to IT services.
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 12 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Eight years of experience at the managerial level.
- Preferred: Ph.D. in a science or social science discipline with a strong computational methods and data management background.
The expected pay range for this position is $256,048 to $301,224 per annum.
