To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience, or combination of relevant experience and education; experience must include professional leadership positions in higher education student services programs within a large, complex, decentralized university setting.
  • Strong knowledge of current practices in career development, and demonstrated skill in creative and strategic approaches to career services programming, technology and coaching is required.
  • Demonstrated strong management skills and the ability to work and lead teams, including experience with significant and complex budgetary/financial management.
  • Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills are needed to communicate at all levels with tact and diplomacy, within a diverse and decentralized setting to achieve program, center and campus goals.
  • Ability to engage faculty and to steward a highly sophisticated alumni population is also required.
  • Continual review of professional best practices, of National Association of Colleges and Employers (“NACE”) standards, and of relevant laws and regulations affecting academic institutions, such as ADA and FERPA are expected.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, administrators, etc.) with diplomacy and tact.
  • A record of success in developing strategic partnerships, collaborating with academic units, and achieving high satisfaction levels in meeting the needs of students.
  • An understanding of the need to infuse inclusion and community principles and practices into career education.

In addition, our preferred requirements include:

  • Completion of an advanced degree in an academic area strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-cultural and multi-ethnic dynamics of the academic and social pressures encountered by students at a renowned research university is preferred.
