The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the foundation of a liberal arts education at Stanford. The school encompasses 24 departments and 24 interdisciplinary programs. Department/Program Description: The McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society at Stanford University is home to a diverse and growing portfolio of initiatives that reach audiences across campus and beyond. These initiatives include an undergraduate honors program, ethics-focused classes, fellowships on and off campus, research collaborations, curricular endeavors, and public events with renowned speakers. Through these efforts, the Center is committed to bringing ethical reflection to bear on important social problems through research, teaching, and public engagement.
Position Summary: The McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society is seeking a Student Services Specialist who will work under the general supervision of the Director of Graduate & Undergraduate Programs and the Undergraduate Faculty Director. They will assist with the core administrative tasks associated with our academic programs and fellowships, including our undergraduate Honors Program, Minor, Ethics Bowl Program, Civil Disagreement Initiatives, Graduate Fellowships, and Postdoctoral Fellowships .
The Student Services Specialist will be responsible for:
All aspects of our undergraduate Honors Program and Minor (e.g., meeting with students, publicizing the program, confirming degree milestones, supporting the Faculty Director)
General administrative tasks related to undergraduate education (e.g., scheduling classes, reserving rooms, submitting course descriptions)
Administration of our graduate and postdoctoral fellowships (e.g., publicizing the fellowships, collecting applications, completing the appointment process, arranging visas for international fellows)
In addition to administrative tasks, the Student Services Specialist will serve a key role in building an intentional community for our students. They will, in many cases, be the first point of contact for students when engaging with the Center, whether through hosting an Open House or an Informational session about the Center’s programs. As such, it is crucial that the Student Services Specialist exhibits a positive attitude, sustains creative energy, and works collaboratively with the Center team to create a welcoming space for students.
A successful candidate will exercise sound judgment and decision-making, possess effective written and oral communication skills, pay close attention to detail, and maintain respectful relationships. The candidate must also exhibit a strong desire to continuously learn new policies and procedures as they relate to support of our academic programs.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing, and non-exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

CORE DUTIES:
Review documents and forms for completeness, track files for follow up and distribute for review.
Research and resolve routine issues, refer complex issues to other staff.
Input data, update electronic databases, web sites, literature, and associated materials. May collect, gather and validate data, prepare basic reports.
Coordinate logistics for outreach activities, meetings, and events.
Respond to routine inquiries from students, faculty, external constituents, and staff.
Serve as a subject matter resource to students and other departments.
Contribute to general office administration and process improvements.
May train and direct day to day activities of student and temporary workers.
* Other duties may also be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
A BA degree is strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Customer service skills.
Basic office administration skills.
Ability to learn compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $34.36 to $40.29 per hour.
