Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
  • Understanding of financial transactions.
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Certifications and Licenses:

  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

The Department of Chemistry is seeking a student services professional to join our team.  You will be responsible for administering appointments for Postdoctoral Scholars including:  offer letters, visa services, funding, and student life.  Essentially half the job is processing financial information for 200+ graduate students and 80+ postdocs using GFPS and GFS; enters stipend, salary, and tuition payments plus budget projections.  Communicates with students, staff, and faculty to provide policy information on a wide array of issues, mostly related to postdocs and student funding.  Provides support to update the Stanford Bulletin.  Helps prepare the annual budget for undergraduate summer research program and assists faculty by processing applications.  Supports the curriculum by preparing flat files to assess lab fees to students enrolled in lab courses in chemistry.
