The Learning, Design, and Technology (LDT) team within the Teaching and Learning Hub (TLH) at the Graduate School of Business (GSB) applies learning design and instructional technology expertise to continuously define the cutting-edge in teaching and learning at the GSB. The LDT team contributes critically to innovations in teaching and learning, incubating and piloting new teaching technologies, techniques, and programs. We are looking for a Senior Learning Experience Designer to partner with faculty and programs to create engaging and impactful learning experiences. This role collaborates closely with the instructional media and academic technology teams within TLH to develop media-rich and technology-enabled content and experiences for learners enrolled in our degree programs and global executive audiences.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in learning design, content development, and project planning; technical acumen and experience innovating with new technologies; exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; and be excited to collaborate with other teams within TLH to elevate faculty teaching.

Please Note: This is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of two days of on-site work at the Stanford GSB campus on a weekly basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Uncover the unique teaching and learning needs specific to each course and/or program.
  • Consult with faculty to identify and formulate learning goals and objectives to design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning experiences and programs in all modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online).
  • Collaborate with media production, educational technology, and software development colleagues to support and enhance teaching and learning goals and create innovative and engaging learning experiences.
  • Design, develop, and deliver instructional content and technologies.
  • Stay abreast of cutting-edge learning strategies and technologies.
  • Employ project management techniques to ensure that design and development projects meet requirements for teaching and learning, are scoped properly, and are delivered on schedule. 
  • Manage internal and/or external teams, schedules, and budgets.
  • Establish and improve processes for production, post-production, and delivery resources, tools and equipment necessary to develop learning content.

To be successful in this position, you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and seven years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in consulting with business partners and faculty to assess learning needs and develop face-to-face, online, and blended learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying instructional design theory, models, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using instructional design tools such as learning project plans, design documents, learning hierarchies, storyboards, prototypes, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency leveraging new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all members of a learning team, faculty, media and design, technologists, and program staff to create engaging, effective, and innovative learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of face-to-face, online, and blended learning experiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and succinctly convey learning content in a manner that engages learners and improves learning.
  • Experience integrating online learning with one or more learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and individuals at any and all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management or learning development projects involving the development of multimedia content.

In addition, preferred requirements include: 

  • Experience with cutting-edge technologies such as AI-powered learning tools, adaptive learning platforms, immersive technologies (VR/AR), or learning analytics.
  • Experience developing learning experiences for adults and executive audiences.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with media professionals, academic technologists, and software developers.
  • Experience working with contract and contingent staff designers.
  • Master’s degree or higher in education, curriculum and instruction, learning technologies, or related fields.

The expected pay range for this position is $128,749 – $146,822 per year.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
