Stanford REACH Lab in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking an educator (Social Science Research Professional 2) with research experience to assist in the development and evaluation of our substance prevention curriculums, including our Tobacco Prevention Toolkit, Cannabis Awareness & Prevention Toolkit, and Vaping Information, Solutions, and Interventions Toolkit. The successful candidate will also support research that informs public health programs and policies, as well as conduct educational trainings on REACH Lab curricula. Prior experience working with youth and/or in a classroom setting is preferred. requiring.
Work will be performed at Stanford Main Campus, Stanford Research Park and qualifies for hybrid work as agreed upon to meet operational needs
Duties include:
●Assist with developing, reviewing, and proofreading educational curriculum materials for youth ranging in age while applying classroom education experience to enhance curriculum quality.
●Conduct and facilitate trainings on various curricula in support of research studies and grants
●Troubleshoot and provide technical support to educators as needed (e.g., Canva, software tools)
●Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures, with the supervisor providing general guidance and suggestions.
●Collect, interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques. Experience with survey programming through Qualtrics and RECAP is preferred.
●Assist in designing experiments, exercising independent initiative and judgment gained from completing a variety of high level assignments, including activities such as defining variables, formulating hypotheses, and selecting subjects, sources of information, or planned and coordinating experimental protocols.
●Solve problems, and make decisions that affect the direction of the research and learning outcomes, and results in independent contributions to the overall project.
●Select and apply standard calculations and formulas independently to compile data or process documents; often serve as a resource for research methods and numerical analyses.
●Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed.
●Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
●Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $85,376 - $99,581.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
●Prior experience in community-engaged research and/or health promotion is preferred
●Strong communication skills, particularly interfacing with youth, educators, parents, and community members
●Classroom education experience is preferred
●Strong attention to detail, excellent skills in reviewing and verifying educational materials
●Highly organized in managing tasks and coordination of team projects
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or combination of education and experience in an applicable social science. Prior experience in community-engaged research, health promotion, and/or classroom education is preferred.

●Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
