Minimum Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree and ten years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience; at least three years of supervisory experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

- Demonstrated expertise in planning and overseeing the implementation of security and emergency management plans for large scale and/or politically sensitive events.
- Successful track record of collaboration and use of diplomacy in a complex political and social university environment. Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and political acumen skills. Able to influence people, solve problems, trouble shoot, think creatively and resolve conflicts.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to cultivate professional business partnerships.
- Demonstrated history in creating innovative event planning strategies and successful event collaborations.
- Excellent facility for overseeing numerous polices and understanding their relationships to one another when analyzing events and promoting best practices.
- The ability to develop long-term working relationships with faculty, staff, donors, alumni, students, and others outside of Stanford.
- Demonstrated competency in budget management, cost accounting and vendor contract relationships. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to review and analyze and synthesize complex financial and scheduling information.
- Proven skills in management of a diverse staff including, motivating, mentoring, staff development and compensation, evaluation assessment, and goals setting. Principles of organizational dynamics, management, training and progressive discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete work in a timely and accurate manner, coordinate multiple activities, meet deadlines, and work independently; self-motivated with the ability to make improvements, enhance work habits and prioritize assignments, when necessary; and exercise independent judgment on behalf of the department.
- Proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and processes. computer literacy; understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts; ability to adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Recommend, assist, test, or implement process streamlining, system improvements or work flow changes including related change management programs.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, trends and/or regulatory requirements.
- Possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently stand/walk, sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
- Frequently use a telephone.
- Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 10 lbs.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.
- Possess and maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather conditions, and operating assigned office equipment.

Working Conditions
- Evening, weekend work and shift work will be required.

Special Requirements
- Applicant must pass a detailed police background investigation including a search of local, state, and national files for criminal history.
- Must be able and willing to respond to and work large-scale special events as well as unplanned critical incidents, sometimes with little advance notice.
- All personnel working for the department are responsible for providing public safety services to the community. Personnel will be trained to perform duties outside their normal day-to-day responsibilities, such as dispatching and/or emergency call taking and/or special events logistics support, so they are able to provide support during emergencies and special events. Training includes familiarity with the Incident Command System.

The expected pay range for this position is $179,000 to $225,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
