Road Maintenance Technician I

To be successful in this role you must bring:

• High School diploma or GED and one years’ experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for prolonged periods in all types of outside weather conditions

• Ability to understand and give verbal instructions.

• Knowledge of and ability to apply safety procedures.

• Basic computer skills.

• Valid California Non-commercial Class C Driver's license.

Physical Requirements*:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.  

• Constantly stand/walk.

• Frequently kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, use telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.

• Occasionally perform desk-based computer tasks, operate hand and foot controls, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh more than 40 pounds.

• Rarely, perform seated work, grasp lightly, work/reach above shoulders, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), sort/file paperwork or parts, write by hand.

Working Conditions

• Required to wear issued uniform and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• May be required to work overtime, evenings and weekends, including holidays, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.

• May be exposed to high voltage electricity, work in confined spaces or at heights up to 10 feet.  

Work Standards

• When conducting university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.
