To be successful in this role, you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience administering retirement plans or acting as a retirement plan consultant responsible for managing operations and compliance for 403(b) or 401(k) and pension plans, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a de-centralized organization with members of a cross-functional team to implement program changes. Plans should include stakeholder management, communication and education needs support tools, and rollout schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure retirement plans operate in accordance with plan provisions and in compliance with applicable regulations governing tax-qualified plans.
- Strong written communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, judgment, negotiating, influencing, and decision-making skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strong project management and vendor management skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of ERISA, Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Code and other statues governing employer sponsored tax-qualified retirement plans.
- Experience drafting, reviewing and amending benefit plan documentation, identifying, evaluating and correcting operational compliance issues, including documentation of corrective actions.
- Ability to quickly absorb and learn new concepts and new software programs.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn about other benefits and compensation programs and assist with cross-functional projects or provide short-term support to other health and welfare benefit programs/projects
- Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; demonstrated proficiency with human resource information systems.
- Ability to constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. Frequently sitting. Frequently stand/walk, sitting, use a computer, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork, rarely kneel/crawl.
Preferred Qualifications
- Retirement Plan Certification, such as Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), Certified Plan Sponsor Professional (CPSP), National Tax Deferred Savings Association (NTSA), or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS).
- Working knowledge Oracle Financial Systems, Peoplesoft HRIS, and Fidelity’s PSW system to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
- Experience with HRIS system implementations and development of plan eligibility data file requirements.
- Knowledge of pension annuity insurance environment.
Working Conditions
- Travel on campus to schools/units; some occasional travel out of town. Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
