The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the foundation of a liberal arts education at Stanford. The school encompasses 24 departments and 24 interdisciplinary programs. The France-Stanford Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (a part of the Stanford Global Studies Division) aims to bridge the disciplines of the humanities, social sciences, sciences, engineering, business and law, addressing historical and contemporary issues of significance for France and the United States from a broad range of perspectives. Founded in partnership with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the center provides research and event funding to Stanford faculty and students as well as counterparts in France.
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to both the France-Stanford Center Faculty Director and the SGS Executive Director, the Program Manager position provides organizational leadership and implementation for programmatic and administrative issues. The Program Manager works closely with the Faculty Director and affiliated faculty to facilitate and enhance the Center’s programming, internship opportunities, and fundraising efforts. Key responsibilities include assisting the Faculty Director in strategic planning, financial management and annual budgeting, and relationship cultivation with French institutions of higher education. Other key responsibilities include identifying and facilitating research opportunities for faculty and students, managing the six grant programs, managing the programs’ communications strategy, and mentoring students and visiting scholars.
This position is multi-faceted and dynamic. Candidates should be self-starters, comfortable with autonomy, possess strong communication skills in both English and French, and be willing to embrace opportunities to shape programmatic initiatives and to work with the Center leadership to drive these initiatives to completion. The ideal candidate should have extensive and direct administrative experience with emphasis on program development and management, and budgeting in an academic environment. They should have a demonstrated ability to facilitate interdisciplinary research projects, to build rapport with campus and off-campus audiences, to manage visiting scholars and visiting student researchers, and to lead student advising and public outreach efforts. Expert knowledge of the French Language and the ecosystem of French institutions of higher education and are strongly desired.
CORE DUTIES*:
Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function.
Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures. May perform limited forecasting and provide recommendations that determine the budget.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in French highly desired; working knowledge
Expert knowledge of the ecosystem of French institutions of higher education are strongly desired.
Experience with budgeting in higher education setting.

The expected pay range for this position is $100,023.00 to $124,516.00 per annum.
