About Financial Management Services
Stanford’s Business Affairs unit provides administrative policies, infrastructure, systems, services, and support for the benefit of the university community. Business Affairs is focused on continuous advancement in delivering excellent service to clients and continuously improving. Business Affairs' departments work together to make administration seamless and efficient to enable and support teaching, learning, and research.

Financial Management Services (FMS), a department within Business Affairs, is responsible for creating an ecosystem which promotes innovative and sound financial administration policies and practices that balance controls, compliance, and customer service. FMS serves the university as an accessible team of trusted advisers, deploying robust financial systems and streamlined processes to address the ever-changing university landscape. In addition, FMS is primarily responsible for financial policy oversight, quality assurance and services as a liaison to the hospitals and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). Job purpose
This role, resides within the Marketing, Communications, and Organizational Programs team in FMS, will lead the design, creation, development, and execution of primarily internal communication strategies in support of high visibility, multi-year projects. This role oversees the design and execution of communications, web content, and engagement plans and deliverables. This individual will provide thought leadership and expertise from the strategic communications perspective toward the creation of comprehensive change management strategies, serving the unique needs of the key audiences (for example, financial staff and managers). The individual will leverage experience with enterprise system implementations to provide project teams with strategies and tactics to communicate expectations and desired outcomes effectively. This individual will manage a portfolio of projects and associated resources, such as communications specialist(s).

Highlights of core duties

  • Develop strategic direction and oversee implementation of long- and short-term communication and engagement plans with direct impact to FMS.
  • Direct staff and provide leadership to achieve communication goals supporting FMS’ broader communication strategy.
  • Collaborate with institutional communicators to ensure FMS’ strategic plans and activities are aligned with overall university outreach, communication, and engagement strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Experience leading communications for a portfolio of technology or system enhancements

Work arrangement
This position will be based on the Stanford Redwood City campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid arrangement of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

The expected pay range for this position is $132,000 to $160,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
