Reporting to the Deputy Director of Cantor, the Manager of Operations will effectively manage and provide oversight of the operational functions of the Cantor that are necessary to support a historic building featuring high-value works of art and exhibitions, classroom spaces, an auditorium, an onsite café, and outdoor grounds and sculpture. This role will establish high standards for building and grounds operations, safety and security coordination, administrative matters, and customer service functions. This role will provide direct supervision of security and facilities staff; these staff are responsible for managing the shared security and facilities functions of the Cantor Arts Center and the Anderson Collection.
In this role, you will:
Independently oversee, evaluate, facilitate, and direct the daily operations of the museum for facilities, security, finance transactions, and HR/onboarding. Identify and assign tasks, make recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assign resources to achieve departmental and museum goals.
Oversee the facilities function of Cantor and Anderson including updating and maintaining facility policies and procedures; monitoring services, equipment inventory, systems, projects, and maintenance activities to ensure timely completion, quality standards, inventory and/or regulatory compliance; and managing off-site commercial storage
Oversee the security function of Cantor and Anderson ensuring the safety of people, collections, and property; updating and maintaining security policies and procedures that follow best practices; supporting emergency planning and response; and assisting with contract administration agreements and contents. Provide planning and logistical support for special events and public programs.
In partnership with VPA staff and central university offices, assist with the administrative and financial transactions of the Cantor including updating and maintaining administrative policies and procedures, assisting with financial transactions, on-boarding of new employees, and IT services.
In close collaboration with the Cantor’s Director and Deputy Director, serve as the primary point of contact for the on-site café including contract administration, menu development, quarterly review and analysis of the P&L statements, and facilitate participation in University programs.
Formulate and administer the unit’s annual operating budget, including monitoring and approving expenditures. Participate in out-year budget planning.
Supervise and direct the efforts of staff to perform various tasks and assignments. Set and monitor performance goals, standards, and accountability. Interface proactively and collaboratively with all museum departments and central units to ensure that the necessary operational, technical and logistical support is available and functioning when needed.
Represent the museum operations as the key contact and subject matter expert within the Cantor, VPA and university. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent Cantor to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies. Serve as liaison with the university and VPA Office in matters related to museum operations.
Please note that this position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid with the expectation to be on campus 3-4 days per week depending on events. In addition, this position will require working some evenings and weekends.
In order to be successful, you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience

Physical Requirements:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks
Frequently stand/walk for extended periods of time; climb stairs; and grasp lightly/fine manipulation
Frequently use a land-line telephone, two-way radio, and cellular device
Ability to lift, pull, push, and move equipment, supplies, parcels, etc. of up to twenty-five (25) lbs.

The expected pay range for this position is $99,015-$115,000 per annum.
