Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) is the operational core of Stanford University’s physical campus. LBRE constructs and maintains the Stanford campus, where advancements across the academic spectrum are made possible. Campus Introduction:

Stanford Redwood City (SRWC) is a 35-acre campus located 5 miles north of the historical Palo Alto campus. It opened in March of 2019 and provides a workspace for about 2,000 employees, including three of the university’s eight vice presidents. Employees work in critical areas such as the School of Medicine, Business Affairs, Human Resources, and Office of Development. The campus includes four modern office buildings, a café and outdoor promenade and plazas, a childcare center, parking garage, wellness center with a rooftop pool, and a credit union.

Stanford is now the third-largest employer in Redwood City.

Job Purpose:

The Building Experience Ambassador serves as the welcoming face of the Stanford University Redwood City Campus, creating a positive first impression for staff, visitors, service providers, faculty, and students. This role ensures exceptional customer service by providing assistance, directions, and information, fostering a professional and friendly atmosphere that reflects the university’s commitment to excellence.

This position provides a service that encompasses hospitality, safety and security, administrative support, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a motivated and articulate self-starter who enjoys being around people, is enthusiastic about customer service, has impeccable follow-through skills, and thrives in fast-paced environments, with frequent interruptions. This full-time role is designated as essential and requires on-site work; telecommuting is not available. This position reports to the Associate Director, Campus Engagement.

 

Core Duties*:

  • Greet, sign in and route visitors to appropriate individuals.
  • Answer phones and serve as a resource on unit procedures and general inquiries.
  • Manage department email box.
  • Maintain employee and department key contact directories.
  • Ensure adherence to security by following procedures; monitor logbook; issue visitor badges.
  • Maintain a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Schedule conference rooms and/or permits as appropriate.
  • Maintain the general filing system and run general operational reports.
  • Monitor the use of supplies and equipment, and order as needed.
  • May serve as the point of contact for general maintenance, health and safety, and other facility concerns within the unit(s).

*Other duties may also be assigned

 

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong telephone skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, maturity and tact.
  • Basic computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • None

Physical Requirements*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.

The expected pay range for this position is $23.76 to $28.27 per hour.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
