Under the general supervision of the Director, Sports Turf, the Lead Athletics Groundskeeper will assist in the overall field maintenance of Stanford Stadium and Football Practice (Elliott). This position will also assist with other facilities within Stanford Athletics. Work to include watering, topdressing, verti-cutting, aerification, equipment maintenance, irrigation repairs, field painting, and applying granular and foliar applications. This is a full-time, onsite role.
Your responsibilities include:
Lead in the field preparation of Foster Field at Stanford Stadium for football, soccer, and other events
Contribute to the organization and cleanliness of the grounds shop.
Perform field cleanup and repair following games.
Operation of grounds and irrigation equipment
Daily record keeping.
Lead set up and removal of grow and rain tarps.
Oversee the operation of the SubAir Vacuum and heat system
Creative and innovative; the ability to see alternatives and solutions.
Ability to achieve planned objectives through completing relevant tasks and focus.
Maintain good relations with staff, coaches, and other personnel
Qualifications:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
Two or more years of grounds experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience
Certificate or degree in turfgrass, soil science, or agronomy preferred
Experience working in professional sports or for a college/university preferred
Must be able to operate various grounds maintenance equipment, such as tractors
Previous experience with turfgrass paints and painting, such as a Graco painter, preferred
Follow explicit oral and written instructions; communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur
Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
Able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds
Able to work overtime, early mornings, evenings, and weekends, including holidays, sometimes in inclement weather conditions
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.

The expected pay range for this position is $35.71 (Step 1) to $43.19 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the pay range is subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
