The Role We are seeking an energetic and passionate individual to join our IT Infrastructure & Security team as an IT Systems Analyst within the Land, Buildings and Real Estate (LBRE) IT division.
The group delivers Server Infrastructure and Security related services to support Sustainability and Energy Management, Facilities Operations, Stanford Transportation, and the Central Energy Facility (CEF). As a member of the LBRE-IT Infrastructure & Security team, reporting to the IT Systems Analyst Lead, the incoming the IT Systems Analyst will:
foster close working relationships with business partners
develop an in-depth understanding of business needs and priorities
coordinate technical resources and services to meet those needs and priorities
serve as project leader on small projects
Our business partners are responsible for the physical infrastructure and facilities that make Stanford a world-class research and educational institution. A range of operational technologies including Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Building Management Systems (BMS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Internet of Things (IoT) devices are deployed to ensure the availability and reliability of utility services and building systems. The security, reliability and availability of these systems is crucial to supporting Stanford’s mission.
Core Duties:
Understand business processes and translate into system solutions.
Assist with feasibility studies of enhancement requests, identifying options and recommending an IT solution.
Assist the project manager in developing project scope, cost, resources, impact and schedule.
Create business requirements, including business rules, quality attributes, performance goals, external interfaces and constraints.
Collaborate with the business partners and test team to create and execute system test plans, user-acceptance testing and rollout.
Assist the development team to develop technical specifications.
Perform production support activities, including triaging issues, evaluating patches and fixes, assessing impact, and implementing solution.
Conduct in-depth analysis to solve problems, identifying gaps and issues that minimize system modification and maintenance; make recommendations, including discovering new approaches or applications.
Design and document modules and components and how they will interface with each other.
Develop functional specifications to ensure compliance with system development lifecycle methods.
What you will do as an IT Systems Analyst:
You will engage business partners with quarterly security check-ins for their IoT devices
You will provide device owners processes for remediating IoT and system related vulnerabilities
You will work alongside another IT Systems Analyst with IoT related projects including gathering network requirements and performing security assessments
You will assist with initial determination of the feasibility of requests and ensure user requirements are thoroughly and accurately documented
You will perform weekly on-site visits to collaborate with our business partners which includes triaging IoT device issues and documenting essential information
You will learn to apply security best practices to safeguard our IT infrastructure
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred experience with various operating systems and computing devices.
Preferred exposure to both Windows and Unix/Linux systems
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish effective, ongoing relationships with clients, staff, and management.
Ability to apply information technology best practices, including security controls (both physical and information security), for asset management and troubleshooting.
Ability to learn and adapt to new operating systems (Windows, Mac, Various Linux/Unix distributions)
Demonstrated success in time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and projects
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with minimum direction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated experience with both process and data modeling.
Demonstrated experience with fit/gap analysis.
Understanding of relational database concepts.
Strong understanding of the components of web applications.
Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with minimum direction.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish effective, ongoing relationships with clients, staff and management.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work under pressure in high stress situations.

The expected pay range for this position is $102,628 to $125,399 per annum.
