In order to be successful in this position you need:
• Knowledge and training on state and federal regulations pertaining to hazardous chemical, universal and radiological waste management, transportation, and disposal required
• Hazardous material coursework and/or significant experience working with hazardous and/or radioactive materials.
• Familiarity with chemical, radiological, and regulatory reference materials. Ability to interpret information in order to solve problems and/or complete work assignments.
• Ability to use computer systems
• Knowledge of and ability to select, use and maintain specialized personal protective equipment necessary for the working with hazardous materials. The employee must be able to determine the proper and appropriate method necessary carrying out job assignments.
• Ability to work under direct supervision and perform assigned tasks from written instructions and established policies and procedures.
• Good interpersonal communication and ability to respond courteously and quickly to customer concerns and needs as required.
• May work with mechanical systems (e.g. solvent bulking and waste handling systems) requiring attention to detail and mechanical ability.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Non-Commercial Class C Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class C driver’s license and drive day and night.
• Frequently; stand/walk, lift carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
• Occasionally sit, perform desk based computer tasks, twist/bend stoop/squat, grasp lightly, write by hand, operate foot or hand controls, use drum dolly and push/carry/lift/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
• Rarely, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds or other), work/reach above shoulders, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts and use telephone.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk for up to 20 minutes 3 times/day and construct fiberboard boxes.
• Ability to manipulate motorized and non-motorized cart, pallet jack, drum dolly, and 55 gallon drums.
• Ability to read various labels and discern colors.
• Ability to wear and work in a respirator.
