Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (“DAPER”) is the premier intercollegiate athletics program in the country. We are the proud Home of Champions! The Football Video Lead will manage the day-to-day video operations of Stanford Football, ensuring all practice, game, and opponent footage is captured, organized, tagged, and delivered to coaches and staff efficiently. This is the operational backbone of the video department — a hands-on role that keeps the film workflow running smoothly while supporting the Director of Football Operations on larger strategy, technology integration, and long-range projects. This onsite role is a fixed-term position with an end date of 2/28/2027.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Oversee daily video capture for practices, games, and workouts, including setup, camera placement, troubleshooting, and quality control.
  • Manage the tagging, categorization, and upload of practice and game film into XOS/DVSport/Catapult or comparable systems.
  • Coordinate opponent film exchange and ensure staff have timely access to all required breakdowns.
  • Maintain the video schedule and ensure student workers, interns, and assistants are trained and deployed effectively for daily shoots.
  • Communicate with coaches, analysts, and QCs to understand their weekly video needs and ensure those needs are met with accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage equipment set-up and maintenance (cameras, endzone towers, drones if used, storage, and backup systems).
  • Assist the Director of Football Operations in implementing new workflows, video technologies, or software systems.
  • Serve as the day-to-day technical contact for staff experiencing system or access issues.
  • Support gameday film operations, including multi-angle uploads and rapid postgame distribution.
  • Maintain high standards for organization, reliability, and on-time delivery of all video content.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a collegiate or NFL video office, videotaping and editing games and practice footage
  • Demonstrated technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software
  • Knowledge in production techniques, including videography, compression, and file delivery.
  • Experience with live streaming events
  • Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound, and editing
  • Understanding of the online video environment and online distribution
  • Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setups or workarounds if necessary
  • Good interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy are required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Experience using a range of camcorders and PTZ cameras
  • Experience with video analysis software such as Catapult, PFF, Hudl, or similar products
  • Be willing to work the very long work days, especially during the football season
  • Computer software skills using Microsoft and Adobe
  • Must be willing to work occasional long nights and weekends throughout the year
  • Must be willing to travel for professional development purposes
  • Must be willing to work outside in all climates

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks
  • Frequently stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach/work above the shoulders
  • Occasionally sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat
  • Visual acuity, including color vision

The expected pay range for this position is $98,730 to $105,000 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
