About the Position:

 

This position will be a Project Manager with a 3-year term position.  This position will be an on-site position with option for hybrid.

 

Core Duties*:

 

        Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.

        Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.

        Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus among project members and external partners when applicable.

        Develop and help execute comprehensive project strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead  project management methodologies underlying project success.

        Coordinate communication and work management platforms (e.g. Slack, Jira).

        Responsible for coordinating grant-supported work including management of partnerships, convening schedules and logistics, facilitating discussions and negotiations among partner teams, authoring grant reports, and regular updates as required.

        These elements typically delineate the project management involved at this level: charter origination or scope identification and shaping, scope definition; risk-manage, control and report on risk associated with more complicated projects, affecting division or program as it relates to their project portfolio and risk sharing and control is skewed further to the project manager; project complexity involves synthesizing complex technical data and driving decisions; primary university relationship is at the Assistant University Librarian level; cumulative budget/scope from $250k to $600K.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and Experience:

 

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of related experience in management of projects with extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

        Highly effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.

        Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.

        Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

        Ability to balance customer expectations with project reality.

        Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.

        Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.

        Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.

Certifications and Licenses:

 

        Project Management Professional (PMP) certified completion of a Project Management Certificate program, or certification in process.

 

Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May Include:

 

     Knowledge of current methods for enhanced search and discovery among digital document corpora, including semantic indexing; conceptual familiarity with agent–based AI technology frameworks

     Familiarity with government information, especially US Federal data and document ecosystems; discoverability challenges for Federal information in a rapidly changing access environment

 

Physical Requirements:

 

·         Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

        Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand.

        Rarely use a telephone, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions:

 

        May be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures, be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA, allergens/biohazards/chemicals /asbestos, or heavy metals or work on roofs at heights greater than 10 ft.

        Travel locally and cross-university.

The expected pay range for this position is $169,858.00 to $189,483.00 per annum.   Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
