Minimum requirements
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Superior news judgment and outstanding communications skills, and mastery of skills in public relations and written communications
- Experience analyzing situations and giving sound professional judgment to senior leaders on news value, strategic communications, public opinion, and media relations
- Proven ability to maintain and leverage relationships with journalists and media outlets
- Strong influencing, negotiating, and relationship management skills; ability to work collaboratively with communications groups across campus.
- Capacity to write and synthesize complex materials and communicate highly technical information in a manner that’s easily understood
- Understanding of brand management principles
- Team player mentality – everyone pitches in to get the job done
- Creative thinker with a desire to seek opportunities for continuous improvement
- Comfort with ambiguity and experience working in a highly decentralized environment is desirable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
- Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.
