Under the guidance of the Stanford Live Director, the Director of Marketing and Communications works on the development and implementation of marketing activities, enabling programs, services, events and/or products to meet organizational   objectives. Drives cross-functional collaboration across the organization. Provides direct supervision to personnel, as well as the management of select outside vendors, to ensure effective operation. 

In this role, you will:

  • Recommend, manage and execute integrated marketing plans/programs and strategies to meet business objectives.  
  • Manage program budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals
  • Develop and manage the communication and brand strategy for individual program(s) incorporating appropriate channels (i.e., web presence, digital and print).  
  • Participate in the Stanford Live senior management team, including strategic planning, and coordination of efforts with other university departments.
  • Responsibility for marketing department staff including the recruitment, management, development, and retention.  
  • Set pricing for all Stanford Live events working closely with the Programming and Ticketing departments
  • Working closely with Ticketing department and the Stanford Live Director, identify opportunities to utilize dynamic pricing to maximize revenue
  • Guide planning and execution as needed to support marketing objectives.
  • Manage market research and campaign/program/service/event analysis used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting.  
  • Assess market opportunities and track market trends. Recommend marketing improvements based on findings.    
  • Manage vendors/contractors on specific projects.  
  • Other duties may also be assigned 

Please note that this position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid with the expectation to be on campus 3-4 days per week depending on events. In addition, this position may require work extended or non-standard hours, weekends and holidays based on business needs

In order to be successful, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Previous experience in non-profit or similar product, program and/or services marketing.  
  • Experience with digital, web, print, social media marketing.  
  • Strong design eye both in print and web, and ability to provide clear and constructive design feedback    
  • Ability to lead multiple cross-functional teams and departments toward a common goal.  
  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  
  • Experience with market research and data analysis.  
  • Understands how to implement effective marketing programs across multiple channels.    
  • Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills.  
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.    
  • Prior experience in planning and managing program budgets.  
  • Proficient knowledge of Tessitura, TNEW and/or Spektrixa plus  
  • Excellent understanding of Google Analytics and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
  • Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.
  • Rarely sort/file paperwork.

The expected pay range for this position is $113,990- $140,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
