TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION, YOU WILL HAVE:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience or a combination of relevant education and relevant experience. A Master’s degree in exercise related fields is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in fitness programming, health promotion, and/or recreation instruction.
- Experience in developing and implementing training, curriculum and educational tools.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to groups of various sizes.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and develop strategies for revenue generating programs while meeting budgetary goals.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated collaboration, creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, judgment and decision-making skills with a broad range of people, including program areas, stakeholders, vendors, and equipment suppliers.
- Advanced knowledge of current risk management practices in recreational facilities
- At least an intermediate proficiency in at least half of the NIRSA Competencies.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of customer service.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and other technology platforms used within the campus recreation industry.
Certifications and Licenses
- Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification
- Group Fitness, Personal Training, or other related credentials offered through accredited professional associations such as: ACE, AFAA, NASAM, or NCCA.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to exert physical effort, including the ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs., bending, squatting, reaching, or being on feet for long periods of time.
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
- Ability to teach multiple types of exercise and/or recreation classes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Routine work during normal business hours with required and supported flexible scheduling based on professional needs. Will work occasional extended hours, evenings and weekends for programs or departmental events
- Work often is spent in both indoor and outdoor facilities interacting with participants.
- This is an in-person position.

The expected pay range for this position is $99,000 to $106,000 per annum.
