DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Existing knowledge of, and network in, the West Coast ecosystem of healthcare (or life science) innovators and investors is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in the fields of biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer health, or health technology is required; this work experience can have been acquired through work directly in these industries (whether in large or small companies) or through work experience in venture investing, management consulting, or operations.
  • Thorough understanding of IP, licensing and partnering agreements including experience with interpreting and drafting term sheets across all types of business deals
  • Knowledge of drug approval process including preclinical, clinical, CMC, and safety
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in corporate and/or foundation prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and working with volunteers, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a program and/or team. Demonstrated ability to work within a complex environment and with competing university and funder agendas.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to articulate a compelling case for philanthropic support programs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
  • Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and, decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals.
  • Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong relevant subject matter knowledge.
  • Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
