Minimum Education and Experience Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.  Experience working in a university setting, and an advanced degree (JD or MBA) preferred.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Experience in and responsibility for planning, executing, and evaluating programs designed to reach, serve, and engage university constituencies.
  • Excellent strategic, organizational, and project management skills, and the ability to simultaneously plan and execute multiple projects.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent management skills, including coaching and developing staff.
  • Strong track record as relationship builder and collaborator.
  • Tact and proven ability to manage diverse staff in different functions.
  • Strong ability to understand customer needs, show good judgment and diplomacy, and a high tolerance for ambiguity.

Preferred:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience in and responsibility for planning, executing, and evaluating programs designed to reach, serve, and engage law school and university constituencies.
  • Ability to build effective long-term relationships both internally and externally and the ability to articulate and advocate for institutional goals clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal, team, and leadership skills; tact and flexibility in working with diverse population groups. Well-developed leadership abilities and a willingness to take risks and solve problems creatively.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with volunteer development and oversight.
  • Proven decision-making skills and the ability to understand and solve complex questions.
  • A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and to working in a complex, decentralized organization.
  • Must be a goal-oriented and self-motivated individual who can demonstrate accountability, initiative, energy, creativity, and focus in a rapidly changing and intellectually stimulating environment.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, and flexibility is highly desired. Knowledge of Stanford University preferred.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and/or donor relations best practices a plus.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems.

Certificates and Licenses Required

 

Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver’s License.

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
  • May work outdoors.
  • Some local or domestic travel.
  • A remote or hybrid worker arrangement may be considered for candidates with the appropriate background and experience, with a preference for candidates based in the Bay Area, Southern California, or the New York or Washington, DC metropolitan areas.
