The Office of Child Health Equity’s (OCHE) Associate Director (OCHE-AD) is responsible for working with the Director to oversee and manage the strategic operations of the OCHE. The OCHE-AD will work closely with the Director to lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the Office’s vision and strategic initiatives.
The OCHE-AD’s primary responsibilities and duties fall into the following categories: 1) internal and external leadership and representation through strategic and administrative oversight, 2) funding procurement and complex budget oversight, 4) oversight and engagement with Office staff and interns, 5) research oversight and engagement, and 6) leadership and direct engagement in teaching across the department, medical school and university.
The OCHE-AD must have extensive experience in leading health-related initiatives and be able to draw from experiences in strategic planning, operational oversight, grant writing and financial management, program development and implementation, and fostering collaborations. The OCHE-AD must be able to represent the interest of the Office both internally and externally to identified opportunities to create and foster strategic partnerships and advocate for the interests of the Office and learners supported through their role.
Duties include:
·Provide leadership direction to assigned staff in the program area, and oversee subordinate staff with program responsibility.
·Design, develop, and oversee implementation of the most complex programs. Devise and implement vision, strategy, goals, and resource development in consultation with faculty director. Assess entity/program efficacy. Shape development of research and/or teaching programs. Provide guidance to program staff or instructors.
·Define the overall activities of research/ teaching program(s), allocate appropriate staffing and other resources to achieve objectives. Develop and direct related policy. Provide strategic and financial advice to faculty director and/or senior management. Coordinate grant proposal submissions.
·Develop, maintain, and control the financial budget related to program(s); shape financial strategy and long-range financial planning.
·Serve as the principal advocate with foundations, funding, and gift sources.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·Education: Doctoral degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work, or a related field
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience in health-related initiatives, preferably within academic or community health settings. Demonstrated experience in managing complex budgets, securing funding, and overseeing financial operations
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and engagement among diverse stakeholders. Experience in strategic planning and program development, with a track record of successful implementation of health equity initiatives. Experience leading employees, research assistants, and trainees.
Research and Evaluation: Strong understanding of research methodologies and experience leading and managing research projects, including compliance with human subjects' policies. Ability to assess and ensure research aligns with organizational priorities, and to effectively disseminate findings to academic and non-academic audiences.
Grant writing and Funding: Extensive experience in grant writing and managing relationships with funding agencies. Success in identifying funding opportunities and aligning organizational goals with those of potential funders. Experience managing all aspects of the grant submission and reporting process.
Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Teaching: Demonstrated ability to design, lead and manage teaching programs. Experience teaching and mentoring across academic levels, including medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Other: Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a commitment to community engagement.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Advanced degree or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience.Typically five or more years of relevant experience in area of specialization and five or more years relevant experience managing staff.Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans, program partnerships and funding sources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
Advanced oral, written and analytical skills exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
Excellent leadership skills.
Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES: For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $164,922.00- $206,189.00/ annually.
