The Digital Solutions Department of Stanford GSB seeks an experienced and highly skilled Associate Director, Business Analysis & Web. Having a customer experience centric mindset, the Associate Director will execute substantial techno-functional, strategic, operational, project management, and quality assurance efforts and managerial efforts within the DS Delivery org and with university-wide focus. You will exercise major functional impact on and/or manage very large business application analysis, web & content digital solution functions. You will manage a team in a complex techno functional environment to optimize delivery operations, invest in 3P’s (people, process, product/technology), and establish customer experience centric service through effective communication and partner with cross functional teams. Our team aids faculty, graduate students, and staff with an expectation to deliver high quality products and services that meet their needs within appropriate timelines and budgets. In this role, you will own a wide range of business applications and systems spread across apps/web/content management systems, on-premise and cloud offerings. The Assoc Director, Business Analysis, Web & Content plays a key role in the maintenance, enhancement, and management of GSB’s enterprise applications along with managing delivery initiatives/projects. We are looking for an experienced leader who can wear multiple hats and can coordinate & communicate with diverse business partners, understand & elicit business problems, suggest & design solutions, document requirements, and work with our technical team to build and provide outstanding digital products and solutions. You will work closely with various department offices across the school while remaining aligned with strategy, deliverables, and goals of GSB DS. You will also coordinate with GSB program office teams, offshore partner teams, internal technical, security, PMO, enterprise architecture, and infrastructure teams to help successfully implement and administer all initiatives meeting customer expectations with no compromise to quality and within timelines/budget. You will manage a team of seasoned and high performing analysts’ team. Your primary responsibilities include:
Design solutions to address complex business problems while balancing business needs, usability, system consistency, simplicity, and maintainability.
Manage all business and techno-functional activities undertaken by staff in the group (communicate with business users to understand, synthesize, and analyze business problems and their solutions using a rich variety of methods e.g., interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, data analysis, etc.,).
Provide strategic planning for own work group and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives with a deadline based mindset, including but not limited to:
Best-in class operations management capability including problem & incident management, proactive monitoring and automation.
Scaling of operations to future business needs.
Delivery of high performance and scalable business applications & platforms.
Manage stakeholder expectations and partner closely with senior management; provide strategic planning for own work group and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives, including but not limited to
Establishing a culture of high performance, solution options, transparency and continuous improvement.
Best-in class operations management capability including problem & incident management, proactive monitoring and automation.
Manage the daily operations of the unit that includes recruiting, hiring, training, developing, evaluating, setting priorities, work tracking & prioritization, coordinating business, technical, and educational activities for direct reports.
Own and contribute to solving business problems by providing solution options. Provide strategic direction and guide teams to work completion within time/budget and no compromise to quality and customer expectations.
Partner closely with senior management, create and execute delivery plans, and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Evaluate and assess metrics and program effectiveness; review trends and monitor proactively.
Instrumental in thinking through and proposing innovative solutions following latest trends (like AI in higher education) to grow and stabilize the technology platforms along with improving the processes.
Represent our business partners while working closely with the development team to clarify business needs and solutions throughout the implementation process.
Identify, clarify and resolve issues within the group; often serve as the initial managerial escalation point for issues from clients and other staff.
Work with a variety of users to gain information, and develop intra-system tradeoffs between different users, as necessary; interact with a diverse client base and outside vendor contacts.
Be a champion for the GSB applications and other web/content assets you may own and look for opportunities to continually improve the systems.
Own and contribute to establishing the vision and roadmap for business analysis and web function to manage the team effectively and executing against GSB’s goals. Cut through
the "buzzwords" to get to the heart of problems to help solve business needs; translate technology capabilities into business solutions.
Resolve issues quickly and take actions that meet university goals, with partnership. Align with the University IT on broad technology directions.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and up to six years of progressively responsible, relevant experience performing duties like those listed above or combination of education and relevant experience.
Passion for working with end users to understand their needs and improve their end-user experience.
Demonstrated management experience leading techno-functional teams, systems, and projects.
Experience leading and managing both projects and support/operational activities (simultaneously at times) to make tangible progress and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with various technologies like AI (ChatGPT), Cloud technologies like Oracle, Salesforce, websites, portals, CMS, data management and reporting skills and platforms like SQL/PLSQL, Informatica, Snap Logic (API/Sync mgmt.,), and Tableau.
Exceptional customer experience and relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment.
Demonstrated experience working with partners, developing and managing budgets, and service contracts.
Self-starter with excellent verbal, communication, and presentation skills.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.
Experience working with distributed teams working in an agile/scrum environment.
Demonstrated ability in building applications that boost user engagement and efficiency.
This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days of onsite work per week at the Stanford campus. May work extended hours, evenings and weekends. The work schedule could be adjusted in future to better suit school requirements.
The expected pay range for this position is $135,374 to $166,823 per year.
