Stanford University has an immediate opening for a full-time Accommodations Coordinator  in the Office of Accessible Education (OAE), the department charged with facilitating reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in all areas of academic and residential life. This position is integral in furthering accessibility and inclusion for students with disabilities on campus and working closely with campus partners to remove barriers to learning.

Successful applicants will have an understanding of the university environment and possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment.

JOB PURPOSE:

To coordinate the execution and delivery of academic-related accommodations to students with disabilities who are registered with the Office of Accessible Education at Stanford University. The Accommodation Coordinator works in tandem with the OAE team to implement exam accommodations, assistants, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing services in a timely manner. This involves frequent partnership with faculty and staff to ensure equity for Stanford students.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to coordinate the reasonable disability-related in-class and exam accommodations for which students are approved by the Disability Advisers. Some evening work may be required
  • Oversee, review, and summarize data requiring interpretation and influence decisions
    • Maintain records and statistical data regarding accommodations
  •      Coordinate and maintain inventory of OAE equipment and loan processes
  •      Recruit, screen, and assess candidates for positions needed to fulfill student accommodations including, but not limited to note takers; exam readers/scribes; exam assistants; lab assistants; library assistants; and visual descriptionists
  • Source and schedule sign language interpreting, real-time and media captioning services
  •      Assist the Centralized Testing Center with coordinating exam accommodations, logistics, and proctoring as needed
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and data analytics. Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as programs and courses and to influence current processes and policies
  •      Identify trends, perform needs analysis, and participate in the implementation and testing of new technology
  • May train and supervise other staff, volunteers, student, and temporary workers

Minimum requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferably in a higher education setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Basic computing skills, including comfortability with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Computer systems/technology experience to include Google apps, online document storage solutions, and Database Management Systems
  • Basic analytic and problem-solving skills; creative thinking
  • Customer service skills
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize competing demands and time management
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines with limited resources or additional time pressure
  • Understanding of hiring requirements and financial transactions
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations

Working Conditions:

  • This is a hybrid position which requires 3-4 days of onsite work per week. Additional onsite days may be scheduled, as needed, to meet student and departmental needs
  • Candidates must be able to work evenings/nights during peak seasons. Weekend availability is seldom needed

Physical Requirements*:

  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 25 pounds

The expected pay range for this position is  $80,905 - $82,000

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
