DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The best qualified candidates will have demonstrated multiple years of experience in healthcare 3D printing applications and have expanded into designing cutting guides and other 3D prints for use in the surgical setting. 
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) desired
  • Attention to detail, in the 3D model, verbal/written communication, tracking maintenance/quality, and the entire process/workflow for 3D printing/device design.
  • Efficient using various 3D Printing software which generate 3D-printable objects.
  • Mastery of 3D printing methods, materials, vendors and capabilities. 
  • Advanced understanding of DICOM images, basic knowledge of CT and MRI physics, and image artifacts. 
  • Demonstrated experience creating 3D models in a healthcare setting. 
  • Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining 3D Printers, inventory management, waste management. 
  • Rapid-prototyping experience.
  • Human anatomy and medical terminology exposure and experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Prior research experience and understanding of research methodologies.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Two-year degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of judgment and skill.
  • Reliable self-starting and self-directed nature, exhibiting initiative and focused work ethic.
  • Basic knowledge in cross-sectional anatomy and physiology, sterile technique, patient relations, medical imaging examination preparation, and medical imaging safety and screening procedures.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in the operation of medical imaging systems, 3D reformations, and post-processing procedures.
  • Basic working knowledge of medical imaging physics, principles, tissue contrast, and applications.
  • Familiarity with Unix, Windows, Mac, and/or Linux computer operating systems; experience in MR system operation and troubleshooting system and computer issues.
  • Ability to identify images for post-processing and/or artifacts in the images; ability to respond to detailed requests for views and/or images depicting certain anatomy and/or pathology. 
  • Experience in teaching and instruction of technologists, researchers, and/or physicians.
  • Ability to collaborate with other professional colleagues.
     

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Must hold one of the following certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), California Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).   
  • Advanced ARRT registry (e.g. CT, MR, etc.) desired.
     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • No heart implants.
  • Requires good fitness/aerobic capacity and visual/auditory acuity including color vision.
  • Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently grasp forcefully, operate foot and/or hand controls.
  • Occasionally use a telephone, lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull patients or equipment that weigh 11 to >40 pounds.
  • Rarely stand/walk, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), twist/bend/stoop/squat, write by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, scrub/sweep/mop/chop/mix.

Additional PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Occasionally operate power-based equipment such as a water-jet, vacuum, dental pick; to clean 3D printed parts.
  • Fine motor skills desired for cleaning support material from 3D prints.
  • Use of dental picks, and other detail tools to accomplish task.
  • Occasionally walk distance of up to ½ mile for delivering 3D printed parts.
     

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • 'Medical imaging' in this document includes but is not limited to X-Ray, Nuclear Medicine, CT, PET, and/or Magnetic Resonance. Individuals are exposed to these forms of imaging and associated high magnetic fields and noise at greater than80dB TWA on a regular basis.
  • May be exposed to allergens from animal models, patients and human scan subjects.


Additional WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Regularly exposed to 3D print media such as resins, plastics, alcohol, and other cleaners.
  • These print media will have odors.
  • Waste generated by print media must be disposed of properly, precautions to be taken when handling waste.
